Orthographic tile presentation shader
A presentation shader that kept 3D mahjong-like tiles readable as flat game pieces in an orthographic play view.
CONFIDENTIAL
Orthographic tile presentation shader01 · Problem
The game needed 3D tiles for spatial animation and staging, but their playable faces had to retain the fast readability of a 2D puzzle board.
02 · Design decision
Designed a shader treatment that separates the felt 2D tile face from the surrounding 3D presentation, allowing the game to keep both its board clarity and its depth-based animation.
03 · Current result
The board reads as a puzzle first while retaining the visual flexibility of a 3D scene.
